Sorority History:

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 16, 1920, at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Its establishment was the result of the visionary efforts of five remarkable women: Arizona Cleaver Stemons, Pearl Anna Neal, Myrtle Tyler Faithful, Viola Tyler Goings, and Fannie Pettie Watts. Affectionately known as the Five Pearls, these founders envisioned a sorority that would bring about positive change and chart a course of action for the 1920s and beyond. Their mission was to raise consciousness among their people, promote scholastic achievement, and foster a greater sense of unity among members.

From its inception, Zeta has steadily risen to the national spotlight, demonstrating its concern for the human condition on both national and international levels. The Sorority's commitment to innovation is reflected in several groundbreaking achievements:

- Zeta Phi Beta became the first National Pan-Hellenic Council organization to centralize its operations in a national headquarters.
- It was the first sorority to charter a chapter in Africa, expanding its impact beyond the United States.
- Zeta was also the first to establish auxiliary groups, enhancing its capacity for positive change.
- The Sorority made history by being constitutionally bound to a fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., forming a strong and enduring partnership.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority's national and local programs encompass a diverse range of initiatives. Its members actively engage in professional and personal development, honing leadership skills through seminars, officer positions, and mentorship of youth affiliates. Zeta has partnered with Grow With Google to provide valuable resources for professional advancement, and it recognizes outstanding leadership with the Zeta Organizational Leadership Certificate.

Beyond professional growth, Zeta encourages personal development, offering living and learning experiences for women with shared values and objectives. Members have the opportunity to participate in various activities, utilizing their unique talents to contribute to the chapter and community. The Sorority also prioritizes financial literacy through the dFree Financial Literacy program, empowering members to manage their finances effectively.

Zeta Phi Beta's commitment to service is exemplified through programs like Zetas Have Heart, addressing critical community needs, and promoting mental health awareness. The Sorority upholds the spirit of sisterly love and friendship, fostering a supportive environment for young women during their college years and beyond.

Throughout its rich history, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. has evolved into an organization that goes beyond social networking and embraces its responsibility to create meaningful and lasting change in society. With a focus on service, education, personal growth, and sisterhood, Zeta continues to leave an indelible mark on the world, inspired by the legacy of its Five Pearls.
